International Day of Solidarity Against Santander
October 1st was the day chosen to tell Santander Bank that we won’t allow their attacks on union organising. This was a coordinated action by all the IWA sections in response to the dismissal of the CNT delegate in Isban-Santander Bank in Madrid for demanding fair terms and conditions.
Santander Bank has many employees in different countries, including UK, a huge number of them in precarious conditions. On the morning of 1st October all Santander branches in Brighton and Hove were decorated with propaganda about the conflict and calling for solidarity untill the company decides to take responsibility and reinstate the dismissed worker. On this day of solidarity there were actions in cities and villages across Spain and in many other countries, including Poland, Portugal, Brazil and Uruguay.
